Would you like to eat in a fantastic restaurant, in a peaceful place at the heart of the vines of Jurançon, surrounded by nature ? Auberge des Roses is an unusual address ; as we savour, of course, not only Béarn specialities, but also excellent fish recipes. The chef, Hervé Barrière, has worked for many years close to the Atlantic coast and likes to create modern savoury shellfish and fish dishes. It is a perfect place to enjoy a delicious romantic meal, with your friends or with your family. Open all year ; take a seat on the terrace or in the pleasant and bright room. Should we go ?


A gastronomy restaurant in a green setting

Auberge des Roses is a gastronomy restaurant set in a peaceful green environment at the heart of vines. A pleasant setting, either for breakfast or diner in a typical Béarn style building. During summer, appreciate the beautiful wooden terrace offering a panorama over the surrounding nature and the vines of Jurançon and in winter, feel cosy in the bright dining room, in the front of the fireplace.

Hervé Barrière has lived near the Basque Country coast for a long time and he likes adding fresh fish dishes from Saint-Jean-de-Luz to his menu. An original variant to the Béarn traditional cuisine that Hervé has mastered. Hervé cooks as much as possible with local fresh produce. It is a simple quality cuisine, savoury and full of colours. Pass through the door of the restaurant and enjoy an authentic and fresh plate… Auberge des Roses has the title of “Maître Restaurateur” and the « Assiette Michelin » award.

A savoury and nature cuisine

The menu, which changes regularly, offers a large choice. The menu and its daily specials, offers a starter, a main course and a gourmet dessert ! During our visit, the speciality of the chef was a starter with crispy prawns, garnished with fresh asparagus and salad. For the main course, we chose a speciality of seasonal skipjack (a sort of tuna), as well as a suggestion of the chef with a Thaï style shellfish garnished with succulent noodles. We were not disappointed ! Could you feel tempted by a roasted suckling pig ? A grilled duck magret ? Or maybe a lamb with its thyme juice ?

For the dessert, I enjoyed a strawberry soup, very simple but so delicious… My friend chose the apple crumble and its caramel sauce. Our meal was accompanied by a Jurançon wine, which was recommended by Hervé and was perfectly combined with my dish. The wine cellar of the restaurant is well stocked ; you can discover local wonder wines from the southwest region or elsewhere. And for the coffee ? We headed to the terrace to enjoy the first sunrays of Spring !
