    • Under the Béarn prefecture, Oloron is also the oldest town in Béarn with more than 2000 years of history. The town occupies a strategic geographical position at the confluence of three valleys and two gaves, Ossau and Aspe. Oloron Ste Marie was born in 1858 from the merger of the communes of Oloron and Ste Marie, by imperial decree.
It is a city with a very strong Hispanic influence, twinned with Jaca, it welcomed the Spanish Republicans from 1937, and even today, many Olorones have Spanish origins.
You will visit this picturesque city on the way to Saint Jacques made of hills and valleys, houses falling into the Gave and towers offering superb panoramas.
The very dynamic Tourist Office offers you a virtual tour of the region aboard the train of the Haut Béarn company, and allows you to visit all the historic places of the city via an interactive route. Do not hesitate to go to the heights for an unobstructed and panoramic view, visit the Maison du patrimoine, from the 17th century (Memory of Oloron and rich Archaeological collections), the Tower of Grede from the 13th, the Ste Marie cathedral and its treasure , the Pommé park ...
