The Port of Castet overlooks the Lac de Castet.
The ports of the Pyrenees are places of passage for herds, with their shepherds. They are significant of pastoralism and you will see many "cayolars" there, traditional shepherds huts, some still used today.
Several hiking trails will guide you there from Castet, Bielle or Le Béon. You enter the Ossau Valley Nature Reserve , which protects the local flora and fauna, and in particular griffon vultures.
Nearby, you also have access to the Plateau du Benou , just opposite, or to the Porteig and Marie Blanque passes.
The good idea : During the summer, you can go on donkey rides or why not a Pyrenean Ride with the Horses of Benou.
